MINUTES
The Curriculum Committee of the Hollidaysburg Area School Board met Wednesday, March 18, 2026, in the Senior High Library. 1510 N. Montgomery Street, Hollidaysburg.  Dr. Li called the meeting to order at 5:45pm. 
Attending were Dr. Li, Dr. Antonowicz, Ms. Sullivan, Mr. Snyder, Ms. Luther, Dr. Blank, Dr. Wells, Ms. Bilek, Ms. Eardley, Mr. Whitsel, Dr. Boone, Mr. Nihart and Ms. Faith.
The committee reviewed accomplishments across elementary and secondary levels for the current academic year. 

2025-2026 Year in Review
Elementary Highlights: Key initiatives included the launch of Kindergarten Camp, Career and Invention summer camps, and the implementation of a new ELA curriculum. The "Remake Learning" program successfully engaged over 180 students.
Secondary Highlights: Focused on core curriculum pilots in Junior High (Science, Math, and Social Studies) and improving course alignment between the Junior and Senior High schools. 
Professional Learning: Staff engaged in "Creative Professional Learning," which included training on Google Gemini (AI), mental health/wellness, and the transition to 100% online registration. 
Data Utilization: Administration and staff emphasized using student data to identify learning gaps and differentiate instruction to improve student outcomes.
2026-2027 Future Planning - The committee outlined strategic goals and programmatic changes for the upcoming school year. 
Elementary Initiatives:
Implementation of Heggerty for structured literacy.
Adjustments to Master Schedules and "What I Need" (WIN) periods.
Enhanced collaboration with the Special Education department.
Introduction of a Family Science Night and a new project involving chickens.
Secondary Initiatives:
 Introduction of an AP Human Geography course at the Junior High. 
 Addition of a Grade 7 Writing course.
 Adoption of new Science curriculum for Grades 6-8. 
 Strategic focus on improving school attendance and redesigning Flexible Instructional Days (FIDs).
Strategic "Future Thinking" Framework - The committee concluded by identifying core pillars for long-term district growth: 
Structured Literacy: Continued focus on foundational reading skills. 
Data & Interventions: Refining how data informs student support.
Curriculum Expansion: Evaluating core courses and electives for future relevance. 
Professional Connections: Prioritizing ongoing training and staff connections.
