Restore the Roar Update: A new scoreboard was purchased and installed at the Junior High grass soccer field. A sponsorship opportunity is available with some early interest.
Facilities:
The district hosted PIAA District 6 soccer, football, and volleyball events this year. District athletic facilities and their conditions were reviewed. Future projects at the stadium were discussed, including upgrades to electrical systems and lighting, a new track surface, turf replacement, and repairs to the tennis courts. The stadium turf was last replaced in 2016 and has a life expectancy of 10-12 years. It was recommended that the track be replaced after the turf as turf replacement would likely cause damage to the track.
Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference – The district is renewing its Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference membership for Fall, 2027 through Spring, 2031.
Miscellaneous:
Fall Revenue Information Update – Fall sports revenue totaled $94,670, which is significantly higher than previous years. Our programs continue to perform well, supported by tremendous community involvement.
The Scotch Valley Country Club Contract was renewed for the golf teams.
Penn State Athletic Trainers Intern Agreement – The district and athletic trainer Amy Smearman are partnering with Penn State to offer athletic training internships. Having a student athletic trainer will provide another set of hands to offer evaluation, treatment, and taping to our student athletes and will allow for an increase in care for our athletes.
Fall Sports survey – A Fall Sports survey was distributed to parents and student athletes to gather feedback, improve the student athlete experience, and identify program strengths and areas for growth. To date, 63 students and 125 parents have completed the survey out of 460 recipients. Parents received the survey through Parent Square and student athletes received the survey through their school email. The deadline has been extended to allow for additional responses.
Uniform rotation – A uniform rotation chart was provided to ensure that all sports receive new uniforms on an even, scheduled basis. Football, softball, and boys’ and girls’ tennis received new uniforms in 2025-2026. In 2026-2027, track and field, cross country, volleyball, and boys’ soccer will receive new uniforms.
PIAA ruling on private/faith-based students participating - Private and faith-based school students who are not offered sports at their school are now eligible to participate in their local public school district sports programs.
Ms. Sullivan will present the Athletic Committee report at the December 3, 2025 Reorganization and Committee of the Whole/Voting Meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:12p.m.
Autumn Fiscus, Board Secretary
