MINUTES

The Hollidaysburg Area School Board met for a Committee of the Whole – Budget Discussion, Finance on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 in the Senior High Library, 1510 N. Montgomery Street, Hollidaysburg.  Ms. Bilek called the meeting to order at 5:04pm. and opened the meeting with the pledge to the flag.

Roll call was taken by Mrs. Fiscus with nine members present. Attending were Ms. Bilek, President, Ms. Costanza, Vice-President, Dr. Sommer, Dr. Li, Ms. Luther, Dr. Wells, Ms. Sullivan, Mr. Snyder and Mr. Brenneman.  

Also present were Mr. Whitesel, Superintendent, Dr. Palazzi, Director of Curriculum, Mrs. Prosser, Director of Special Education, Mrs. Fiscus, Business Manager/Board Secretary, Mrs. Thomas, Director of Accounting Operations, Mr. Caldwell, Director of Human Resource/Transportation, Mr. Nihart, Director of Physical Plant, Mr. Arthur, Director of Technology, Mr. Delattre, Director of Athletics, Ms. Bell and an Altoona Mirror representative.  Attorney Beard, Sr., Solicitor, arrived at 5:27p.m.  Mr. DeLattre left the meeting at 6:30p.m.

Public Comment

There was no public comment.

Business Office Report / Mrs. Fiscus

Mrs. Fiscus and Mrs. Thomas prepared a budget binder and reviewed it with the board. The board can use the binder as a reference throughout the year.  Mrs. Fiscus reviewed the timeline for the budget and reminded the board that changes can be made to the budget up to the date of final adoption in June.

The 2024-2025 proposed consolidated budget includes total revenues of $55,194,566 and expenditures of $57,919,293 with expenditures over revenues of $2,724,727.  

Department budgets were reviewed and discussed.  

Ms. Bilek declared the meeting adjourned at 7:40p.m.
