MINUTES

The Physical Plant Committee of the Hollidaysburg Area School Board met Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at 5:00p.m. in the Senior High Library, 1510 N. Montgomery Street, Hollidaysburg.  Mr. Nihart called the meeting to order at 5:00p.m.

Attending were Mr. Nihart, Mr. Snyder, Ms. Bilek, Mr. Brenneman, Dr. Li, Ms. Luther, Ms. Sullivan, Dr. Wells,  Mr. Whitesel, Mrs. Fiscus, Mrs. Thomas, and Mr. Arthur.

Discussion Topics:

Energy Savings Project Update:  The LED Lighting upgrading at SH, CWL and JH is complete with the exception of the auditoriums to be completed within the next two weeks.  Mr. Nihart noted savings from upgrades are already being seen compared to last year.  The bollard installation, CWL window replacement and Junior High exterior door replacement will take place over the summer to be completed by early September to meet grant deadlines.

Senior High Pool Filter/Pump Replacement:
The pool filter system and pump are over 20 years old and are failing.  The project is on the Voting Meeting April 10, 2024 agenda for approval at $77,000.

Capital Budget Report
The Capital Budget Report is an overview of the Physical Plant Department.  This report includes background information regarding the facilities planning process, planned projects for the upcoming 2024-2025 year and projected projects for the years 2024 through 2029.

Capital Reserve 5-Year Plan 
This is a planning tool for future projects.  There was a plan put in place several years ago to pay off debt but no money was set aside nor was there plan for the buildings.  By the time the debt is paid off in 2023, the buildings will be nearing 40-50 years old.
