HOLLIDAYSBURG AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT
MINUTES

The Curriculum Committee of the Hollidaysburg Area School Board met Wednesday, October 18, 2023 in the Senior High Library.  Mr. Brenneman called the meeting to order at 5:03p.m.

Board Members in attendance were Ms. Bilek, and Mr. Snyder.  Mr. Brenneman participated virtually.  Ms. Hartman arrived at 5:13p.m.  Also present were Dr. Palazzi, Dr. Gildea, Mr. Nihart, Dr. Cheslock, Mr. Arthur, and Mrs. Summerville.  

Dr. Palazzi gave a presentation on state testing to include:

PSSA and Keystone scores, along with plans to improve (work with other districts to understand what they do, possibly change math courses at the JH; TDAQ scores improve yearly);

Science shift to new standards (PA STEELS, Mystery Science at the elementary level, K-12 work to shift instruction to meet the new standards);

The Elementary update included iReady, Acadience, Mystery Science, MTSS, ECRI, and Spring Math. She spoke about the implementation of iReady and getting some extra coaching for teachers.

Secondary updates included the work toward developing blended learning courses, science shift, and restorative practices. 

In addition, Dr. Palazzi highlighted the supplies that teachers were able to purchase with the learning loss money from ARP ESSER.

Mr. Brenneman declared the meeting adjourned at 5:36p.m.
