MINUTES
The Hollidaysburg Area School Board met Wednesday, August 2, 2023 for a Special Voting Meeting in the Senior High Library, 1510 N. Montgomery Street, Hollidaysburg.  Dr. Sommer called the meeting to order at 7:10p.m. and opened the meeting with the pledge to the flag.

Roll call was taken by Mrs. Fiscus with seven members present.  Attending were Dr. Sommer, President, Ms. Hartman, Vice-President, Ms. Frye, Mr. Snyder, Mr. Brenneman, Ms. Bilek and Ms. Costanza. Mr. Nichols and Mr. Stephens were absent.
Also present were Dr. Gildea, Superintendent, Dr. Cheslock, Interim Director of Special Education, Mrs. Fiscus, Business Manager/Board Secretary, Mrs. Thomas, Director of Accounting Operations, Mr. Caldwell, Director of Human Resource/Transportation, Mr. Arthur, Director of Technology, Mr. Keagy, Dr. Letcher and Mr. Madden.

Public Comment

Peggy Marter, 442 Beaver Dam Road, Hollidaysburg spoke to the board regarding real estate tax increases and suggested having an outside auditor review district records.  Dr. Gildea suggested she meet with him and Mrs. Fiscus to discuss and review tax information.

The board met in executive session Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at 6:30 pm for personnel.

Per Board Policy 202, Eligibility of Non-Resident Students and Policy 239, Foreign Exchange Students, on motion of Mr. Snyder, seconded by Mr. Brenneman, the board approved two Grade 12, Senior High foreign exchange students for the 2023-2024 school year: Maya Gartner-Pichler and Paul Geiss.  The motion carried on a roll call vote with seven yes votes and zero no votes.  Exhibit 1

On motion of Ms. Bilek, seconded by Ms. Hartman, the board approved personnel actions 1 through 44 dated 8/2/2023 REV 8/1/2023 at 2:21p.m.  The motion carried on a roll call vote with seven yes votes and zero no votes.  Exhibit 2

President’s Report / Dr Sommer

There being no further business to be brought before the board, Dr. Sommer declared the meeting adjourned at 7:22p.m.
