March 10, 2021 Athletic Committee Meeting Minutes




The Athletic Committee of the Hollidaysburg Area School Board met Wednesday, March 10, 2021 in person in the Senior High Library, 1510 N. Montgomery Street, Hollidaysburg.  Ms. Hartman called the meeting to order at 5:03p.m.

Present were board members Dr. Sommer, Ms. Hartman, Dr. Mitchell, Mr. Stephens, Mr. Nichols, and Ms. Frye.  Other attendees in person included Dr. Gildea, Mrs. Mitchell, Mrs. Baker, Mr. Caldwell, Mr. Nihart, Mr. Harrington, Mr. DeLattre and Dr. Letcher.

Mr. DeLattre provided an update to winter sports participation.  He reported that winter participation was down by approximately 60 student-athletes. Fall and Winter sports recognitions will take place in April or May.

Mr. DeLattre presented the spring sports schedules for review.  He noted that Spring participation numbers are the same or better than in previous years.

Mr. DeLattre reviewed district COVID-19 guidelines which increased capacity limits from 15% to 20% for outdoor spring events.

The school district has received many facilities rental requests for Tiger Stadium and baseball field use from various groups.

The hiring of a new substitute athletic trainer with G3 Therapy was discussed.

A request was received from an IUP student for an athletic office intern from May through August.  The student will submit the required paperwork for board approval in April.

The approval of a Rifle Club in association with The Hollidaysburg Sportsman’s Club was discussed.

Restore the Roar is in the process of purchasing a new scoreboard.  The board was provided with the financial plan to purchase and fund the project with tentative installation scheduled for the Summer of 2021.    

Mr. DeLattre announced that several student athletes signed their letters of intent to attend and compete at the college level.

There being no further business to be brought before the board, Ms. Hartman declared the meeting adjourned at 5:39 p.m.
