HOLLIDAYSBURG AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT

MINUTES

The Athletic Committee of the Hollidaysburg Area School Board met Wednesday, June 9, 2021, in the Senior High Library, 1510 N. Montgomery Street, Hollidaysburg at 5:05p.m.

 

Roll call was taken by Dr. Mitchell with three members present.  Attending were Dr. Mitchell, Dr. Gildea and Mr. DeLattre.

 

The committee reviewed spring sports participation numbers and the recognition of district spring teams and individuals:

  • Brian Denis achieved his 500th career win in combination of girls and boys tennis teams.
  • Boys Tennis - District 6 Boys Tennis Team Champions
  • Brian Johnson and Nathan Barton - District 6 5-A Boys Doubles Tennis
  • Lily Jodon - District 6 Class AAA Girls High Jump Champion

 

Dr. Sommer entered the meeting.

The committee reviewed the Fall Sports Preview Report.

All fall sports schedules, except football will follow the Mountain League schedule.  There is one game open in October to be filled.

 

Restore the Roar

Scoreboard update:  Due to Covid the scoreboard project has been postponed until the summer of 2022.  A new bid has been received that is $25,000 to $30,000 lower for the scoreboard.


Discussion on Financial Plan
Fundraising has changed from a car giveaway to a trip giveaway.  The trip is a 6-night Disney vacation or a 7-night Caribbean cruise for two.  An alumnus made a generous donation and for every ticket sold there will be a match.

 

Covid-19

The committee reviewed the previous year and is moving forward with the hope of a better year.

 

Facilities Update

The track surface needs repaired.

Bedford/Claysburg has requested to use the district stadium for their home football games.  Mr. Delattre is working with both school districts on this.


The YMCA Swim Contract is being worked on.
 

Athletic Ticket Prices

2021-2022 Proposed Ticket Prices remain unchanged, except football has increased due to 6 homes games instead of 5.

Golden Tiger Pride Day is Saturday, August 21, 2021 from 9a.m. to 6p.m.  Stuckey Automotive and Courtesy Motors will be participating to help raise funds.

Personnel changes were discussed.

The meeting adjourned at 6:03pm.
