Communication via School Messenger to Parents/Guardians regarding to COVID-19

August 25, 2022

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) has recently updated its guidance for schools regarding recommended protocols related to Covid-19.  The new guidelines closely align with the most recent Health and Safety Plan update approved by the HASD School Board last March.   The updates are as follows:

If an individual  tests positive for COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status, it is recommended that he/she isolate (stay home) for 5 days following symptom onset or positive test result. If no longer showing symptoms or symptoms are resolving, he/she may return to school on day 6 with no mask requirement although a mask is recommended by the CDC through day 10.

The school district will NOT be conducting contact tracing.  If you are aware that you or your child has been exposed, you are advised to monitor for symptoms for 10 days following exposure.  If symptoms occur, you are encouraged to stay home.

Positive case counts will continue to be recorded on the district website for each school building.

Sincerely,

Robert J. Gildea, D.Ed.
